April 2012 Update

Dear friends and ministry partners,

It has been almost two weeks since I left for home - time is flying.
Please see my timeline from April 4 - 18:
April 4
: Left the US for India
April 5
: Reached New Delhi
April 6
: Clara, Abigail, Zozo, and Rachel flew into New Delhi
April 11
: Back to Manipur
April 12 - 17: Re-union with extended families and church members
April 18
: Back to Office

Today is my second day in my office at the PCI Head Office. And there are so many issues
and responsibilities to deal with. Please pray for energy and wisdom.

Praises:

1. Our family - my mom and dad, Clara and the girls, and all the orphans are doing well,
and everything is running smoothly both at the Covenant Children's Home and at Covenant
School.

2. In New Delhi the weather was 40oC (104oF) whereas in Manipur we were welcomed with
a cool and pleasant 27oC (80oF) – the Paradise in India!

3. Meeting with friends in the churches and Partnering churches is much encouraging and
energizing. Your hospitalities, love, and warm friendship are signs of God’s grace for us and
our ministry.

Prayer concerns:

We have three of our pastors in a row – one being terminated for preaching and teaching
against our Reformed doctrine; another one terminated for immorality; and one is in the
process of suspension for immoral acts. All of these took place during my two months trip
in the US. These are crucial challenges for our Pastoral ministries. Please pray for me and
our church leadership as we have to tackle all of these issues and re-organize our team work
plans. Pray for God’s guidance and wisdom from above.

Travel schedules:

April 21 – 23, 2012 : to visit Singngat Presbyterian Church and preach on Sunday Worship
service; followed by a meeting with Singngat Presbytery Youth Fellowship (SPYF) and
Singngat Presbytery Women Fellowship (SPWF).

April 25, 2012
: meeting with the Presbyterian Missions Fellowship (PMF) with
matters related to our missionary activities in Manipur among the Meitei Hindus; Mainland
Indian Hindus; Indo-Bangladesh mission work; Myanmar and Cambodia missions activities.

April 29, 2012
: visit with Rehoboth Presbyterian Church to preach on “Re-
strengthening Covenant Family.”

On weekdays I attend my office as Coordinator (Ministries) meeting with Pastors, Elders, and

dealing with problems and issues in the local churches.

Lord willing, we are planning and praying to come back to the US as a family from October
2014 till May 2015. Please pray for our family and ministry as we begin the process of this
long range plan for HMA.

Thank you so much for your prayerful and financial partnership with our ministry.

Note: Please do not put this update on website or passed it on to friends without
modification or prior permission due to sensitive church issues being reflected for
prayer concerns.

In His grace,

Lian and Clara Tombing

March Monitor II -- 2012

Dear Partners in Ministry,

It was in 2001 when we returned home with your prayerful and financial
partnership to begin the Ministry, to which the Lord has called us since we
were young. It has been already a DECADE OF PARTNERSHIP in which the Lord
has done marvelous works in and through our partnership. To God be the
glory!

Here is our prayer monitor for the months of March and April:

PRAISES:

1. Lian has been in the US for more than a month now and in this short
time frame Lian had visited 5 churches on weekends, and 10 churches
on weekdays ; all together covering 15 churches. This is the Lord’s
guidance and He has been opening doors of the churches and hearts of
the people. He has 4 more churches to visit in the coming 3 weeks and
then he would be back home.

2. The Lord answered our prayers and we are now up-to- date with our
support. What a relief it is! And thank you so much for making this
happened through your prayers and gifts to our ministry.

3. The Lord has added another 50 supporters for those orphans who
needed people to support them. This is one of the main reasons for my
visit this time. And thank you so much for sharing the burden with us!

4. Ministry back home are going well both with the Church and at
Covenant Children’s Home. Covenant School is having its First Term
Exam. Clara is busy with the Orphans and our three daughters are busy
with their School Exams.

Prayer Concern:

1. Pray for Lian’s journey mercies and the Lord’s guidance in all
endurance. Please pray for smooth preparations for his return
journey back to india on April 4, 2012.

2. Please pray for our financial needs:

(a) Lian needs to raise $3,500 to cover his rental car expenses for the
two months stay in the US.

(b)We need to raise $20,000 for the Kitchen building as we are still
without a kitchen at Covenant Children’s Home.

3. Please pray for our Pastors, our Church, and our staff at the
Orphanage, Schools and several other projects for God’s protection
and guidance as they carry out their responsibilities each day.

Thank you so much for Partnering with us for the past 10 years.

In His grace,

Lian and Clara Tombing

March Monitor - 2012

Dear partners in ministry,

We hope that you all are doing well by God's grace. We are doing good and the few days I am here in the St. Louis area is quite blessed and productive by God's grace. Clara and our three precious girls are doing all right. We talk to each other twice a day - morning and evening just before bed. Below are our Praise and Prayer items the month of March 2012.

I. Praises: Our praise items are simply the evidence of your prayers being answer:

1. Clara's health is improving as a result of your many prayers and the medical treatment she received for the asthma. She had been bed-ridden for two weeks last month but now she recovers from her sickness and has been back to normal life and work.

2. Our financial shortfalls for ministry is getting better as we are just a month behind now. We will need to raise $20,000 in order to make up this deficit. This is much better than the three months shortfall till last year with the amount of $50,000. Thank you so much for your support prayerfully and financially.

3. There is much peace in Manipur in particular, and in the north-eastern states in general since last year. And as evidence for this - We had just had our Manipur Legislative Assembly (what we called State Congressmen" here in the US) election; and for the first time in the past 20 years (since 1990 - 2010) people came out to cast their votes freely and without any fear. The Indian Government had lifted the Protected Area Permit (PAP), which required foreigners to get a special permit (in addition to their Indian visa) since 2011. This is another answer to your prayers.

4. All the 530 orphans that you support could begin their 2012 Academic Session on February 3, 2012 at Covenant School - altogether, 850 students have been admitted for Nursery Class to the 10th Grades.

II. Prayer Concerns:

1. Pray for my heavy meeting and traveling schedule here in the US:

(i) February 17 - 22, 2012: World Missions Conference at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, Missouri.

(ii) February 25 - 26, 2012: Visit Independent Presbyterian Church, Memphis, TN.

(iii) February 27 - 28, 2012: Knoxville, TN

(iv) February 29, 2012: Uptown Community Church, Charlotte, NC

(v) March 01, 2012: Advancing Native Missions (ANM), Charlottesville, VA.

(vi) March 04, 2012: Trinity Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, MO.

(v) March 09, 2012: Covenant Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, MO

(vi) March 11, 2012: Greentree Community Church, Kirkwood, MO

(vi) March 18, 2012: Concord Presbyterian Church, Columbia, IL

(viii) March 24- 25, 2012: Cypress Ridge Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven, FL

(ix) March 27-27, 2012: Central Point Presbyterian Church, Ocala, FL

(x) April 01, 2012: Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, Lenexa, Kansas

April 04, 2011: Leave for India

2. Please pray for our monthly financial Shortfalls - we need to raise $20,000 to make up this shortfall.

3. Pray for the need of a Kitchen Building at the Orphanage that will cost $20,000.

Thank you so much for partnering with us for a decade!!!

In His grace,

Lian for

Lian & Clara Tombing Covenant Children's Home Mualkoi, Churachandpur-795128 Manipur, India.

January 14, 2012 Update

Dear friends and supporters,

Happy New Year! Hope you are doing fine and experience snow in many places. We are doing well and have a moderate winter. No snow here. Below are our January prayer update:

Praises:

1. Praise God for protecting and sustaining our family and ministry with a new beginning of year to serve Him.

2. Praise god for His provisions with good health, finances, and above all friends to pray for us and our ministry.

3. The children at Covenant Children's Home are getting ready for their new academic session in February with all excitements.

4. Covenant School begins admission for old and new students. Teachers are preparing for their upcoming classes.

5. We are grateful as we will be having friends from Covenant Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, MO from January 31 - February 04, 2012.

Prayer concerns:

1. Pray for Lian's plans to visit Tallian Presbyterian Church on January 14 - 15, 2012. This church is under tortured by their Chief who is against the reformed doctrine and Presbyterianism. Our church members scattered here and there, and there is fears for extinction of this church.

2. Lian is also planning to visit Mimbung Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church in North-east Khawdungsei from January 20 - 25, 2012. Please pray for our church planting ministry; and our Child Development Center at North-east Khawdungsei in partnership with Compassion International.

3. We are still having our budget shortfall of $25,000 for ministry support. We are due to receive our ministry support for December 2011. Please continue praying with us for God's provision for our monthlt support needs.

4. Pray for our one-time need for the start up capital for the orphans with the amount of $31,800 within the month of January 2012. This start-up capital funding is required in order to pay the admission fees, january tuition fees, text books and uniforms for the orphans at CCH to go to School.

5. Above all, pray for our family as we are in the process of re-strengthening a Covenant Family for God's Kingdom. Also pray for our plan to have a family holiday in Delhi from February 5 - 9. 2011 so that it would be a moment of our family time together and relationship building.

Thank you so much for your support throughout 2011. We need you and request you to Partner with us again this year.

In His grace,

Lian & Clara Tombing Covenant Children's Home Mualkoi, Churachandpur-795128 Manipur, India.

Dear friends and prayer partners,

We hope and pray that you are doing fine. This is our November prayer update:

Praises:
1. Our family is enjoying good health and each other.
2. Our ministry at the Orphanage is going smoothly. We are having 530 Orphans right now.
3. Our Church Planting ministry is going well. We are going to inaugurate a new Church builsing at Daijang village on November 6, 2011.

Prayer Concern:
1. Our ministry budget is still low. We are only receiving our August monthly support. We still need to raise $35,900 as one time - budget to make up our budget shortfall.
2. The Economic Blockade in Manipur is still going on and we do not know when it would come to an end. It has been almost three months since it started on August 2011. Prices of daily essential commodities are high and many items unavailable in the market.
3. Lord willing, we are going to have 5 member team visitors from Spanish River Church, Boca Raton, FL on November 12 - 14. Please pray for their successful visit.

October, 2011 Update

Another trip in the Jungle Missions

Lianchinkhup Tombing, Oct 6

Thank you for your prayers and financial supports till today. By God's grace, my family and I am doing alright here in Manipur. The ministry is going well inspite of so many challenges. Here is our Prayer update for the month of October:

Praises:

1. I am healthy and active with the ministry and the Lord is faithful in blessing our ministry with much fruit. I have to travel every alternate weeks to visit churches in remote villages. The roads are shabby and driving through the Jungles is like the scenes in the Jurassic Park. However, this is my call to ministry and i am passionate of going through the ordeals of Jungle trip ministries, by God's grace. There are no more rebel threats and the only challenges I have to go through are the deep muddy roads and the tedious and long drivings. But i love and enjoy it.

2. Inspite of my almost 5 months trip to the States, and the many pending works to catch up, I am healthy and strong, and could work untiringly and without much complain. I am so busy, like all of you are, but still thankful to god for the time and good health to serve Him. Life is short and there are miles to go before I sleep in the Lord. Moreover, my wife Clara is so helpful in taking care of all the day to day affairs of the Orphanage and I am free to do freely of the church ministries.

3. The ministry is going forth inspite of our financial support. God is gracious to privide all our need just in "His own time" and we pray and hope to go ahead.

Prayer Concerns:

1. Manipur is in turmoil again since the month of August as all our life-line were cut off for more than two months now. life is challenging especially when you struggle to have atleast all the essential items foe the basic human needs. please pray for peace and stability of governance in Manipur.

2. Again, i am planning to leave for visiting village churches from October 6 - 13, 2001. Roads are bad and unsafe for travelling. It ussually takes 7-10 hours to cover 100 miles of distnce. Please pray for journey mercy.

3. Clara is still struggling with her back pain, which our Indian doctors are unable to help her. They suggest of not undergoing surgery but to rest and do regular therapic exercises. This is quite challenging for her and our ministry.

4. I have travelling and preaching engagements as below: (a) October 13 - to visit Mata Presbyterian Church (b) October 16 - to visit and preach at Olive Presbyterian church.

Please continue praying for our family and ministry so that we will bear much fruit for the Lord.

Thank you so much for you partnership with us in ministry.

In His grace,

Lian for
Lian & Clara Tombing Covenant Children's Home Mualkoi, Churachandpur-795128 Manipur, India.

September, 2011 Update

Praises:

1. Our family is doing fine by God’s grace. Clara is busy with the Orphanage; and our three daughters are occupied with their schooling. I traveled a lot visiting churches in the villages, was exhausted but is feeling rested now. Thank you so much for your prayers.

2. The Orphanage is doing well with the 530 children under our care. Each one of them is healthy presently. This is the result of your prayers and support. It is such a great joy to see so many children being nurtured – physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Thank you all for investing in their lives.

3. Covenant School finished their Third Trimester Examinations. The passed percentage is high, and most of the children did well including our daughters Abby (second position in her class) and Zozo ( third position in her class). The youngest of them, Rachel will start her exam next week. Covenant School has altogether 750 students this year, and it would be upgraded to the 10th Grade (we called it High School in India) in 2012.

4. Our Church Planting Ministry is doing well- we had our Pastors and Elders Training on August 29 – September 02 with Rev. Will Hesterberg from I.T.E.M. As many as 40 Pastors and elders have attended this event. As I have mentioned in our previous updates, Lian has travelled a lot since his return home in the month of June. The village church members at – Bukpi Presbyterian Church, Thanlon Presbyterian Church, Sinzawl Presbyterian Church, Songtal Presbyterian Church, and Mualnuam Presbyterian Church who are located in remote villages are being greatly encouraged as a result of Lian’s visit. For these groups of people, seeing a pastor or a church leader visiting them is like seeing visible God revisiting them, and they are extremely thirsty with the Gospel of Christ.

Prayer Concern:

1. Please pray for Lian’s Church visiting and Preaching Schedule:

(a) September 11, 2011: Zion Presbyterian Church, New Lamka.

(b) September 12 – 14, 2011: Sinzawl Presbyterian Church, and Covenant Presbyterian Church at N.E. Khawdungsei.

(c) September 23 – 25, 2011: Tuima Presbyterian Church

2. Please pray for our Ministry in general and for Covenant Children’s Home in particular as we are struggling with financial support. We do not get our monthly supports for the month of July and August, not to mention September. We are still having a budget shortfall of $35,000. We hope and pray that the Lord will provide.

3. Pray for the political turmoil in Manipur since last month. All the national highways were

cut off for more than 40 days now and we do not get all the daily essential commodities. This greatly affects our ministry with the orphans and our building constructions as well.

Thank you so much for you love and support throughout these years.

Lian and Clara Tombing in Manipur, India.

July 28, 2011 Update

Dear friends and supporters,

I just got back home from my 10 days trip to visit 4 village churches. It was a long and tedious journey where we have to drive 10 miles an hour due to the bad road conditions. I left home on July 16 and return home on July 25, preaching every night on weekdays and two times on Sundays that almost killed me. I am fully exhausted and need rest. Please pray for my rest and health.

The First village church I have visited is Sinzawl Presbyterian Church which hosted the second Presbytery meeting of the Thanlon Presbytery (July 16 - 17) where we discussed agenda related to church business and disciplinary issues in a particular church. The name of the church is Thanlon Presbyterian Church where two elders got involved in moral issues that effect and affected the church almost to its extinction. I have spent 3 days there meeting with the pastor, elders, deacons, and the congregation. Please pray for recovery and healing in this church. I also visited Covenant Presbyterian Church at N.E. Khawdungsei where we are planning to construct a new church building. The other church I have visited is Bukpi Presbyterian Church - and unlike the other three churches, this church is healthy, vibrant, and growing. We have had a wonderful weekend (July 23- 24) meeting and worshipping the Lord on the Lord's Day. It has been a blessing indeed. I am grateful to see and meet again Clara and our three daughters happy and healthy.

Please lift up in prayers the following events and travel schedules for the month of August:

August 06, 2011: Graduation Day for 9 orphans who passed their 12th Grade or high School. We will also facilitate 10 orphans who have come our with their 10th grade exams with flying colors. This day will mark a historic event for Covenant Children's Home.

August 13 - 14, 2011: I will be travelling to visit two village churches called Mualnuan Presbyterian Church and Songtal Presbyterian Church located at about 100 miles and 120 miles respectively with 6 - 7 hours driving due to the bad conditions on roads. Please pray for journey mercies.

August 20 - 22, 2011: I will be travelling again to Sinzawl village, 200 miles with 10 hours driving due to bad road conditions. This time I will meeting with the Women and Youth Groups of the Thanlon Presbytery. Pray for safe journey and good health.

Thank you so much.

July, 2011 Update

Praise:

Church Planting:
July 19, 2011 (Sunday): Lian Preached at New Delhi on the "Role and responsibilities of
a Christian Father in a Christian Family" as we celebrated Fathers' Day with the Church
members. Delhi Presbyterian Church is a vibrant and growing church. Please pray for Pastor
Lian Kholal, Elder Chin Thang, and Deacon Khai Muan as they minister God's people in this
Church.

June 26, 2011 (Sunday): Lian preached at Mualkoi Presbyterian Church and gave a brief
report on his US Trip.

July 03, 2011 (Sunday): Lian preached at Rayburn Presbyterian Church on "Christian Life".
He also gave his US trip report.

July 10, 2011 (Sunday): Covenant Children’s Home – orphans and staff visited Bethsaida
Presbyterian Church thanking them for their prayerful support. Lian preached on "The role of
Parents and Church Officers in a Covenant Family".

Covenant Children's Home:
Presently 530 orphans are being sponsored now as a result of Lian's trip this year. We
upgraded our temporary kitchen building with wooden post and hired a new Cook. The
orphans are happy and enjoy God's blessings through your support.

Covenant School:
Reopened and resumed their Second Semester Classes on July 11, 2011. Results of the First
Semester were announced with encouraging results. The School has classes from Nursery to
9th grade with 750 students.

Prayer Concerns:

Church Planting:
July 16 – 18, 2011: Lian is planning to travel to Sinzawl for the Thanlon Presbytery Meeting.
Sinzawl is located at about 100 miles from Covenant Children’s Home and it takes 10 hours
by car. This is the same village where Lian has been kidnapped back in 2006 where he was
miraculously saved by the Lord from being tortured and killed. Since the Indian Government
has controlled the situation in that region, we hope that it would be safe and peaceful by now.
The meeting will be attended by 15 Elders and 4 Pastors from 10 local churches.

July 19 – 21, 2011: Lian plans to visit Covenant Presbyterian Church, N.E. Khawdungsei in
Mizoram, to see the possibility of starting a new church there. This village is about 150 miles
from Covenant Children’s Home.

July 22 - 25, 2011: Visit Bukpi Presbyterian Church, which is 200 miles away from
Covenant Children’s Home. Please pray for journey mercies and fruitful ministry.

Financial needs: We still have our ministry budget shortfall of $35,000. My trip help us

bring down the deficit, however we are in need of more funds to make up this shortfall.

Reformed Bible Institute:
July 28 – 30, 2011: Lian will teach at the Pastor’s Retreat Camp on "Pastors: planting,
growing, and revitalizing the Church at Reformed Bible Institute, PCI Head Office, New
Lamka, Manipur.

Covenant Children’s Home:
These two projects below are on-going and urgently needed your prayer and financial gift:

2. Construction of CCH Kitchen Building: $20,000

Please send your Tax Deductible gifts to:

May – June Update

It has been more than three months since I arrived in the States on February 07;
and I have just three more weeks with three more churches to visit before going
home to India on June14. The Lord is good and Clara and our three daughters are
doing fine, and I have a busy schedule with sound health here in the States. Please
continue lifting us up once again in your prayers with the following praises and
prayer concerns:

Praises:

1. We had a successful yard sale on May 21st in Fredericksburg, VA with
the leadership of Catherine Rowley @ Nana, a lady who supports and visits
Covenant Children’s Home since 2005. We raised $2,665 with the Mega
yard sale that started at 8:00 am and ended at 3:00 pm. All the funds will go
directly to support the orphans at CCH in Manipur, India.

2. To date, I have visited 23 churches with 2 more to visit. Of these 25
churches 8 are new ones considering supporting our ministry. Three more
new churches expressed their desire to support our ministry, which I pray
and plan to visit next year during the month of February and March. We
praise God for all of you who have been partnering with us prayerfully and
financially.

3. The political situation in Manipur is improving and the Lord has opened
wide the door for our ministry. Since December of 2010, the Government
of India has kept all the rebels in their own designated camps, locked their
weapons up in a strong room, and provide them with their basic needs while
rehabilitating them to come into the mainstream of society. As a result of this
development, the requirement of the Protected Area Permit (PAP) has been
lifted since January 2011 and anyone can fly into Manipur with the Indian
visa. This is the perfect time for individuals and churches to consider
coming to visit us in Manipur.

4. The High School Graduation Examinations result has been declared
yesterday and 5 children from CCH passed their 12th Grade with flying colors.
As a result, we will have 5 orphans graduating from the Orphanage this
year to start living on their own. Praise the Lord!

Prayer concerns:

1. We are still $17,950 short for our May support and we are also trying
to raise an additional of $12,000 for our new girl’s dormitory and

$20,000 for our new kitchen building. Please pray that The Lord will
provide our need in His time.

2. Upon my arrival in New Delhi on June 15, Clara and our three daughters
will join me the next day as she will undergo surgery for her spinal
cord injury at the New Delhi Hospital for Spinal Injury. Clara has
suffered this pain since 2002 while having Zoulian, our second
daughter at the hospital.

3. We have more than 300 orphans on the waiting list. These children are
assigned a short-term stay at the home of their distant relative while we
raise funds for them to come into Covenant Children’s Home. Please pray
that God will provide donors for them. If you are interested in supporting
one of these orphans, please visit our website www.tinyurl.com/

April, 2011 Prayer Update

Dear friends,

Thank you so much for your prayers and support throughout this time. It has been already two months since I am away from my wife and daughters. I talked over the phone with them this morning (it's night time for them: 11:30 hours difference) and we realize that we missed each other a lot. However, This separation is for the Lord and His ministry and we encourage one another not to give up yet. We really envy your prayers.

Praises:

1.Lian's trip has been successful and blessed by the Lord. Lian feels the Spirit of God working in his life-guiding, molding, and refreshing his visions and calling.

2. The Lord has added more than 50 orphans to our ministry since February and hope more would be added. Financial conditions getting much better than the beginning of this year, though we still have a little amount of deficit to make up.

3. Covenant Children's Home is going on by God's grace. Clara is able and efficient in handling situations and challenges. Thank God for her great leadership at the Orphanage.

4. Covenant School is going well and the students just finished their First Mid-Term Exams and begins their Second Mid-term classes.

5. The 40 churches in India, 12 churches in Myanmar, and the 7 churches among the Meitei Hindus keep going by God's mercy and there is no crucial challenges surfacing till now.

Prayer Concern:

1. We have to make up our deficit of $17,000 of ministry support and needed $18,000 for our April Monthly Support. Pray that God would pour in resources through His Church and His people.

2. We have to raise $15,000 for completion of the Girl's Dormitory.

3. We still need $10,000 to rebuild the Kitchen Building that has been demolished last year.

4. We need to raise support for 100 more orphans by May 2011 at the rate of $40 per month or $480 per year. We are praying and approaching individual donors to come forward and support these orphans who are waiting for their support.

5. I will be travelling to Ann Arbor, Michigan to visit Knox Presbyterian Church this weekend; and then to Naperville, Illinois to visit Naperville Presbyterian Church this coming weekend. Pray for journey mercy and positive results.

Thank you so much for your prayerful and financial supports.

March and April, 2011 Prayer Update

Dear friends and prayer partners,

It has been almost two months since I left home and travel to the USA to visit friends and churches who are praying and supporting our ministry for so many years. At home, Clara looks after the ministry with the orphans and the School; and our church planting ministry is done by a good team of Pastors and Elders. So far, everything is going well at home; and I am staying healthy and productive here in the States. Below are few praises and prayer concerns with which I would like draw your attention:

Praises:

1. Since my arrival here in the States on February 07 till now I have had visited 8 Churches on either weekends or weekdays; and have had either breakfast, lunch, or dinner meeting with more than 12 friends who are always closed to our hearts and being with us supporting us all along.

2. Thank you for opening your churches, homes, and hearts to have me and share what the Lord has done through our partnership in India .

3. Praise the Lord with us for His abundant blessings - my family and I am doing fine; all the 430 orphans and 25 staff members at Covenant Children’s Home; the 750 students and 25 teaching staff at Covenant School; our 17 pastors and 40 local churches in India, the 7 Evangelists and 7 churches in our Meitei Hindu Mission field; and the 7 pastors and 12 local churches in Myanmar. It is amazing to see how God works in our lives and through us as we spread the gospel and plant churches.

Prayer concern:

1. Our youngest daughter, Rachel is sick. Clara took her to a doctor. She is suffering from cold and fever. Please pray for her quick recovery, she will be writing her first school test for this year on April 4 to 6.

2. 3. The main reason why I have to come back to the States this time is to do a Special Fundraise Tour to make up the deficit with our budget. Pray for our need to:

(a) Complete CCH Girl’s Dormitory - $15,000
(b) Construct CCH Kitchen building - $20,000
(c) Support  of 70 orphans on the waiting list - $40 monthly per child.

3. Please pray for my travel schedule:

March 26 – 27: Uptown Church ,  Charlotte , NC.  Pray for travel mercies. I have to fly back in the afternoon itself to visit Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in St. Louis at 6:00 pm.

March 29 – 31:  Visit  a family friend in Knoxville, and then drive to Kingsport, TN to visit Acardia Presbyterian Church.

April 01 – 3: Travel to Birmingham, Alabama; and then to Atlanta, GA to visit Chapel Woods Presbyterian Church in Snellville and St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA.

April 04 – 10: Participate in Central Presbyterian Church Missions Conference in St. Louis, MO.

April 13 – 14: Visit and met with the Missions Committee of First Presbyterian Church, Columbia , SC.

April 16 – 18: Visit and speak on our ministry at Knox Presbyterian Church, Ann Arbor, Michigan

April 23 – 25: Visit Grace Presbyterian Church, Rochester, New York

April 30 – May 01: Visit Naperville Presbyterian Church, Naperville , IL

I still need to visit another 8 Churches in May and early June before I return to India .

If you have been either supporting our ministry already and would like me to visit your church or a new Church who would like to consider supporting our ministry in the near future – please write to me at lianchinkhup@yahoo.com or feel free to call me at my cell #314 -540 – 7069. I still have opening weekdays to travel and meet with you.

Thank you so much for your prayerful and financial support to our ministry. God bless you.

2011 February – March Prayer Update

Praises:

 1. Lian’s safe arrival in the US on February 07, 2011. There are several new churches who would like Lian to visit them and speak about our ministry. Due to these request, Lian is likely to extend even the duration of his staying.

 2. Covenant Children’s Home has a smooth start – it is really a blessing from God and a great responsibility for us to be entrusted with 25 staff and 430 orphans to work with.

 3. Covenant School is doing excellent  – we have 25 staff with 800 students enrolled for the academic session of 2011. The School Managing Board has up-graded the Classes with up to 9th grade.

 4. Our region is  peaceful at last,  and the Government of India even lifted the law which forbid outsiders to visit Manipur. Anyone could come in anytime and visit with us, stay with us, work with us. They need not apply for the Protected Area Permit (PAP) anymore but just the India visa is required to fly into Manipur. This is a clear evidence of your prayers being answered.

 5. The Lord has blessed us with a new pick-up truck. It is a 4-wheel drive and to be used for visiting churches in the villages where roads are not being maintained properly but left in a pathetic condition causing road journey a real challenge, especially during the monsoon season.

 Prayer Concern:

 1. Lian’s visit to the States is of meaningful and strategic:

 (a)  we have some churches supporting our ministry for the past 7-8 years but we still could not visit at this point. Lian is to visit and update these Churches with our ministry in Manipur. Please pray for journey mercies as he travels the length and breadth of the States.

 (b) during his visit in 2009, Lian came across friends who expressed their willingness to be partners in ministry with us in Manipur. Lian is to visit 5 – 7 new churches who may consider supporting our ministry. Please pray that the Lord would open doors for these churches as a source of additional financial support.

 (c) There are 430 orphans at  Covenant Children’s Home; and still we have more than 500 orphans on the waiting list who are in need of donors to help them share the ministry of Covenant Children’s Home. The orphans at Covenant Children’s Home comprised of:

(i) Children without Father and mother, who has but to stay on Campus as they have no other place  to live.

(ii) Children who lost their fathers  but survived and taken cared  by their widowed mother, and these children are allowed to live with their mother while the ministry of Covenant Children’s Home met with all their needs.

(iii) Children without father and mother but have their own foster-parents  at faithful Christian Homes. These families adopt them, and we allow them to stay with their foster parents. The ministry of Covenant Children’s Home supplying all their needs.

2. Please pray for the remaining 500 orphans, who are having the same fate and living situations but still helpless due to short of donors and funds. Lian’s trip this time is also mainly to focus on individual donors who would like to help these children in need with just $40 a month which would completely transform the lives of these children. Please pray about it.

3. Lian’s health and the health of Clara and the three girls - Abigail (11), Zoulian (9), and Rachel (5). The girls are back in School and Abigail is in 6th grade, Zoulian 4th grade, and Rachel KG-II. Please pray for their schooling and studies.

4. As Lian has to lead the Pastoral ministries of Presbyterian Church in India (PCI) by supervising about 20 pastors who look after 60 local churches both in India and Myanmar. Please pray for Unity and Peace in the Church so that nothing untoward incident would not happened during  Lian’s visit to the States.

5. Please pray for Clara as she is in-charge of 25 staff and 430 orphans. Pray for confidence, wisdom, and boldness from the Lord as she carried out mercy ministries among the children.

6. Pray for Rex Chin Khup, Headmaster of Covenant School as he works with 25 staff and look after 800 students.

7. Pray for funds to complete the Girl’s Dormitory. We still need to raise $20,000 to finished this building.

8. Pray for the Kitchen building that needs to be rebuilt soon as the children have no place to cook except in the open air. We will need to raise $20,000 for this kitchen building.

Thank you so much for your sacrificial support – both prayerfully and financially.

In His grace,

Lian & Clara Tombing
Manipur, India.

October  2010

Dear friends and Prayer Partners,

Thank you so much for lifting us up before the throne of grace. It is through your prayers that the Lord continues enabling us to push on with both our personal life and ministry. It is due to your prayerful and financial supports that sustains the on-going operations at Covenant Children’s Home and in our Church planting ministries. Below is our prayer update for the up-coming events and activities with our ministries in Manipur:

 Praises:

1. The seminar on “Marriage and Christian Family” from September 25 – 26, 2010 at Maukot village went well.  There were more than 100 couples who attended this seminar. Many couples renew their marriages vows and decided to rebuild their marital relationships.

2. After three months of interruption with the construction of the Girl’s Dormitory due to economic blockades and non availability of construction materials, our crew resume building since last week. Though, cost of materials for building construction is triple high, which will greatly affect our budget, we hope and pray that the Lord would provide.

3. Our is blessed with good health. Lian’s health is good and he is travelling extensively visiting churches and organizing spiritual revival meetings, and seminars on marriage and family. While Lian is away from Home, Clara takes care our three daughters along with the whole administration of the Orphanage. All these are possible since the Lord has provided us with a good team of staff to help us both at the Orphanage and the school.

4. We praise God for our extended family – both my parents are still alive and living with us. Dad is 70 years young and mum is in her sweet 65 years. We have four brothers and two sisters who are all grown up, three brothers married and having children; one brother and two of our sisters are still single. By God’s grace, our three daughters are healthy and doing well in their studies.

Prayer concerns:

1. Lian also would attend the meeting of the Lamka Presbytery on October 05, 2010 where important issues would be discussed. Please pray for wisdom. He would also participate in the Singngat Presbytery meeting from October 08 – 10, 2010. Lian is to observe this Presbytery meeting as they usually have challenging issues in the past years.

2. Our denominational mission agency “Presbyterian Mission Fellowship (PMF)” will meet on October 13, 2010 to and review and discuss on our missions policy in Manipur, Mainland India, and Myanmar.

3. Lian will lead a seminar on “Role of women in the Church” at the Lamka Presbytery Women Fellowship (LPWF) during October 15 – 17, 2010. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to work and guide us through this seminar paper as our church is at the stage of identifying women’s role in the church.

4. Lian will travel to Mimbung, Mizoram, to speak at the Thanlon Presbytery meeting starting from October 28 – 31, 2010 where hundreds of church officers within Thanlon sub-division will gather  together. Please pray for revival as Lian is going to preach on “Sin, Forgiveness, and Living out our Faith.”

Thank you once again for your prayerful and financial support without which our ministry would not be as fruitful as it is now. It all happens because of our partnership in the Lord’s vineyard.

 In His grace,

Lian & Clara Tombing

September 2010

Current Needs

1). Kitchen Building: The Orphanage is in need of a new kitchen since the old building was demolished by the Village Authority and a local insurgent group. Presently, the orphans cook their meals in the open air. We are praying for the Lord's provision of $20,000 to build a new kitchen building.

2). Girls Dormitory: A separate dormitory for girls is presently under construction. It is a one-story building and 50% complete. Presently, we discontinued construction due to price hikes caused by frequent strikes, economic blockades, and unavailability of building materials. We will need an additional $25,000 to  complete the dormitory.

3). Windmill: Due to frequent power failure,  we are seeking alternate sources of electrical power supply.  We currently use a diesel generator which is expensive and negatively affects our budget. We are praying for a renewable source of energy which a windmill could provide. Please pray with us for lower cost energy sources!!

Loss of Community Truck

May 2010

Recently Covenant Children's Home experienced the loss of our truck.

January February 2010:

Praises:

1. God’s grace on our family and ministry that enabled us to continue serving Him in New Year 2010. We are enjoying good health and enjoying one another as a family.

2. Individual donors and Churches for partnering with us in the ministry throughout 2009; and their commitments of continued support.

3. For a productive and blessed 2009, both physically and spiritually, for Covenant Children’s Home. The Home is presently looking after 400 orphans, with 25 staff.

4. Church building construction at Nokun Khunou is in good progress in spite of the strong opposition from the Meitei Hindus community. The newly planted church has 7 families with 20 members. We can clearly see the Lord opening the door wider to the ministry amongst the Hindus.

Prayer concern:

1. The village authority destroyed the kitchen building of CCH during the last week of December 2009 and January 2010. Although we see it coming, and have been praying and bracing ourselves for the demolition, it was a big blow to our spirits and morale. Pray as we struggle to come to terms with it.

2. Academic session 2010 of Covenant School will start from the first week of February. The school has a total enrolment of 650 students, with 20 teaching staff.

3. Our family trip to Kolkata from January 27 31. This time will be a much needed break, we hope to be renewed both physically and spiritually.

4. Thanlon Presbytery pastor and elders’ retreat at Bukpi village from January 12 -15, 2010 where Lian will be the speaker amongst our pastors, elders and deacons of the Presbytery.

5. Lian’s responsibility at Covenant Children’s Home as the Managing Board Chairman, and as the newly elected Chairman of the Presbyterian Mission Fellowship, our denominational mission agency.

Thank you so much.

September 2009 Update:

Dear friends and supporters,

This is our ministry update for the month of September.

Praise :

(1) Construction of Girls’ dormitory is in good progress with its foundation being completed. We are starting the brick wall now. Thank you for you gifts for the Girls’ Dormitory. Photos will soon be put up on our website at www.tinyurl.com/liantombing.

(2) Another 85 new orphan at have been taken into Covenant Children’s Home as churches and individual friends are sponsoring orphans during our visit this year. You would love to see how happy the children are as they moved in, and how their lives have been transformed through our joint ministry at the Orphanage.

(3) Covenant School begins their Fall Semester class. Altogether we have 615 students from nursery to Grade 8, comprising of children from all sorts of backgrounds – Hindus, Muslims, Christians, etc.

(4) The Lord opening doors to plant a new Church at Nokun Khunou among the Meitei Hindu, about 30 minutes drive from Covenant Children’s Home. Nokun Khunou is a village named after the oldest man of the locality called Oinam Nokun. We are ready to build a church building as soon as the Lord provide fund for construction.

Prayer concern:

1.       We are praying for a School bus. This need for a school bus is urgent and real, and we would need to buy one as soon as the Lord provide. Because:

(a)    We have 50 home based orphans who has to walk for hours daily to come to Covenant School , since they are staying in distant villages.

(b) We experience the monsoon season now and it is challenging for those 50 home based orphans to walk to and from the school in the rain everyday.

Moreover, if we had a school bus:

(a) The students at Covenant School will be able to go for educational tour to nearby important historical sites, and other places of importance. Thus, all those 610 students at the school will benefit from it.

(b) the orphans will be able to visit supporting churches in Manipur every Sunday and update them and encourage them to support us more prayerfully and financially. Thus, all the 350 orphans will benefit from it.

© Our church can use the bus for retreats, camping, and conferences. Thus, almost 10,000 church members can benefit from it.

The bus will be of medium size accommodating 35 adults  or 50 children. Please visit our website at www.tinyurl.com/liantombing for picture of the bus.

2.       Construction of a Church building at Nokun Khonou.

We have an interesting story, it goes as: “Oinam Nokun, the chief of Nokun Khunou village came to Christ in 1978 and was baptized by a Presbyterian Pastor. Now, he is 80 years old and still hang on to his Christian faith even though he is the only believer in the whole community. Through his testimony about 10 families in his village invited us to preach the gospel to them. We have been visiting them every weekend and preach the gospel. He has donated his own land to build a Church building. We are ready to start construction of this church  building as the Lord provides. Photos will soon be put up on our website at www.tinyurl.com/liantombing.

3. CCHGraduates of 2009: There are 4 orphans who have completed their Class XII exam and joint colleges this year. The orphans who graduates from CCH this year: ( i ) Elson Tombing ( ii ) Khamkhangin ( iii ) Lucy Thianhoih ( iv ) Kaisangthang, pray for their future life and career. The graduation will take place on September 19, 2009 at 10:00 am.

4. Mr. Muan (Pronounce as “Mwan”), our Computorist, is suffering Aplastic anemia (marrow) and presently undergoing medical treatment at Vellore Christian Hospital in South India. It is an expensive treatment with high risk. Since he is our computer expert, his service is indispensible. Pray for financial needs and full recovery.

Thank you so much for your prayerful and financial support to our ministry.

In His grace,

Lian & Clara Tombing

Dear friends and prayer partners,

This is our update for the month of June, 2009:

Praises:

1.       By God’s grace, we are healthy and keep ourselves busy with ministry. Our three daughters have finished their half yearly exam and just enjoying their summer break.

2.       Covenant School finished their Half-yearly examinations and has a 30 days Summer Break.  All the children at Covenant Children’s Home are healthy and happily enjoying their summer vacation. Presently, there are 600 students at Covenant School and 310 orphans at Covenant Children’s Home.

3.       Six of the orphans – two girls and four boys graduated from their High School and college exams with flying colors. Of them, a girl and two boys will graduate from Covenant Children’s Home in order to start their own livelihood.

Prayer concern:

1.       Our famous kitchen issue remains pending. We have been summoned by the rebels tomorrow at 11 am. We are going to request them to give us at least 2 or 3 years for us to be  able to raise fund and build another kitchen to replace the present one, then destroy the present one if needed. We hope and pray that we will be given enough time to get ourselves ready without our ministry being disrupted. Please continue praying for time and fund to build a new kitchen building.

2.       We are about to begin the Girl’s Dormitory before the end of June. The builders who are from our state capital, Imphal have not yet arrive. They are Hindus and we will have many opportunities to reach then out. Thank you so much for praying and funding this project.

3.       We are in need of a school bus as the monsoon season starts here in Manipur. There are 140 orphans whom we support as “Home based” and they are coming to Covenant School every day. Of the 140 orphans more than half of them have to walk long distance daily in order to attend the school. PMI allow us to buy a new bus for which we need to raise $20,000 as soon as we can. Please pray that the Lord would provide funds for this new bus project.

Thank you so much for your support. God bless you abundantly.

In His grace,

Lian & Clara Tombing

Subject: Update from Manipur

Dear friends and prayer partners,

We arrived home on May 7, 2009 safe and healthy. It was a sweet reunion with our three daughters, as well as the entire Home community.. Everything is going well at the orphanage, the school and the church. Thank you for upholding us in your prayers.

The first three things we have experienced as soon as we got back home are:

1. The dust and heat since it does not rained here for several months now.
2. Taking bath with muddy water since the river almost dried up and the water is
contaminated by human beings and cattle.
3. No power supply, and no internet access.

In spite of all these challanges, we know that the Lord call us to be here and serve Him. We are also greatly energized and empowered by the love and encouragement that surrounds us throughout our whole trip to the US . It is our prayer that you too would be blessed in the same way. Our God is good. We are able to resume duties with renewed zeal and enthusiasm.

As we all know, the kitchen building situation awaits Lian’s return for the decision to be taken. We went to the rebel leaders this morning, May 14, 2009, to talk about it. From our conversation of more than an hour, we gathered that they are in support of the village authority and determined to demolish the kitchen building. We tried our best to persuade them to spare it for the sake of the orphans. They said they will let us know their decision within a month. Please continue uplifting this issue in your prayers as we are much discouraged.

At the same time, we know that God is in control and His will be done. We are prepared to accept whatever decision is made for us.

Thank you so much.

In His grace,
Lian & Clara Tombing

6. A windmill and solar energy project is under process which will minimize our power supply problems.
7. We are thankful Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, Ballwin, MO for providing their missions house that is a home away from home; and Central Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, MO for their missions van.

Pray with us:

1. For God’s provision to clear Lian’s Medical bills at Missouri Baptist Medical Center for malaria treatment. We need to pay for $1,054.21 for our on-going medical bills, and $4,715.87 for the hospital bill.

2. Fund raise for the Girl’s Dormitory at Covenant Children’s Home is in good progress. So far 50% of the total estimated cost has came in. We need to raise another $25,000 as soon as possible.

3. We are returning home on Monday, May 4, 2009. Pray for journey mercies and happy reunion with family and churches back home in India.

Thank you so much. God bless you.

Lian & Clara Tombing Covenant Children's Home Mualkoi, Churachandpur-795128 Manipur, India.

 March Update 2009

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am grateful to our mission agency, Presbyterian Mission International (PMI) for allowing me to come over here for three months to visit churches and friends and update them on what we are doing as partnership in Manipur, india. The response to our ministry report is encouraging and reviving both from churches and individuals.

PMI's policy is to allow their missionaries to come over here as furlough at least once in 5 years. And I would love to come over here once in 3 years, because in 4 - 5 years we have been over involved and being carried away with our ministry, and we lost the focus and vision of our ministry. This could lead us to fatigue and spiritual dryness.

Coming over here, meeting friends and supporters who loved us and pray for us is encouraging and reviving physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I feel like I am going back being encouraged, revived, and fully charged for another new dawn of ministry for the One who call me.

Here is our March praise and prayer update:
  1. Lian is completing his First Missionary Journey to the Southern part of the USA; and his health is stable. He will undergo another treatment for Malaria in Birmingham on February 19, 2009 and then will fly in St. Louis, MO on March 19, 2009 to attend Twin Oaks Missions Conference. Please continue praying for complete healing. His trips are being blessed and went smoothly as scheduled.
  2. Clara will fly into Kolkatta on February 18, 2009 to face her visa interview. We already raised $1,800 for her trip, and we have to raise another $200 to make her trip possible... Thank you so much for your financial and prayerful support for her trip.
  3. Clara and the three girls are doing fine in Manipur. The three girls are in school at Covenant School - Abigail in grade 4; Julie in Grade 2; and Khumi in Nursery. I talk to them every night just before they go to bed and they loved it. We somehow have this habit which cost a little bit but it is still worth.
  4. Covenant Children's Home is being blessed, and growing. There will be more than 300 now due to your commitment to support new orphans. The Community Leaders' attacked on Covenant Children's Home is not yet over; they decided to encroach on part of our property and tear down part of the Kitchen building, in spite of the Managing Boards' appeal to review their decision. At this juncture, the Managing Board have summoned an emergency meeting and decided to approach the Court to issue an order prohibiting encroachment. Regarding their destruction of the main entrance of the Orphanage, they finally repaired it since there is a strong condemnation from the public against their action. This is an answer to our prayers.

    5.   Covenant School is doing great this year. We have a little more than 600 students. The Lord has  given us an excellent set of teaching staff again this year.

Thank you for your prayerful and financial supports. God bless you!

Dear friends and prayer partners,

Here is our February PRAISE AND PRAYER UPDATE:

  1. Lian's health is improving and he is recovering from the malaria. Please continue praying for complete healing. His trips are being blessed and went smoothly as scheduled. Pray for journey mercies as he is driving all the time.
  1. PMI allowed Clara to come to St. Louis join Lian to attend two missions conference in April. We need $2,000 for her trip. Presently, we have $1,200 in our travel account, and we still need $800 to make her trip possible.
  1. Our prayers for Clara father, Vung, has been answered and he left the hospital two days ago, and is staying at Home , better and recovering.
  1. Covenant Childrenʼs Home is being blessed, and growing. There are 260 orphans now. At the same time, Satan is at work, and the Village Authority of the area where Covenant Childrenʼs home is opposing a project with building being constructed there. They also wanted to demolish the kitchen building of the orphanage with the excuse of being built on the roadside. Pray that the Lord will melt down the hearts of these community leaders.
  1. Covenant School is doing well again this year. Classes began two days ago, and there are more than 600 students being admitted. We had 700 students last year, and we are downsizing the number this year.

Thank you for your prayerful and financial supports. God bless you!

In His grace,

Lian & Clara
