Lesson 2
Creating Your Site

What you need now is a program to write your pages.  They come in all types from easy to hard and prices from very expensive to free.  One of these is Word Perfect or Microsoft Word which should be already on your computer.  Usable but other publishing programs have more features.

Front Page Express
I have used  the free file Front Page Express for years.  However I can no longer find a version of it that is not on a trial basis.  With a little research I found some other free web publishing software mentioned below.

WebDwarf is Virtual Mechanics' free tool for the creation and publishing of Web pages. WYSIWYG Editor.
My comment on this:  So far I have found this one to be difficult to  use.

5.3, Non WYSIWYG editor for Windows XP/Vista by Paul Lutus. This is probably the best careware (See Careware explanation at the site) application you will find.
My comment on this:  So far I have found this one also to be difficult to  use.

Interface with code coloration, Complete HTML and code management, Quality assurance, Project management, Access to thousands of designs and styles,HTML Syntax Checker, International alphabet support, Windows XP compatibility, Code Explorer, 175 predefined DHTML and JavaScript codes, Powerful style sheet editor.
My comment on this:  Better than the above but still quite complicated. This is also shareware with a free trial period

Selida features a very effective WYSIWYG editor, Code Completion and a complete HTML 4 reference. Selida was engineered to be complete and capable - all with the decidedly best price on the planet - $0 ! That's correct. Free. Selida does differ from many 'free' HTML Editors in that it is truly full featured and easy to understand, while remaining powerful enough for the advanced user. Selida users range from the beginner to the professional.
My comment on this:  This seems a bit easier to use.  Made with Selida

(XP/Vista) 9.54 (14 February 2007), is available for Linux, Windows and now MacOS X PowerPC and Intel (see screenshot). It supports HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0, XHTML Basic, XHTML 1.1, HTTP 1.1, MathML 2.0, many CSS 2 features, and includes SVG support (transformation, transparency, and SMIL animation). You can display and partially edit XML documents. It's an internationalized application.
My comment on this:  This could be very easy to use.  Covers many things.

Note: The editors above have not been thoroughly reviewed by me with exception of Front Page Express.
I currently use Microsoft Front Page 2003 which I purchased online from Amazon.com
See also Front Page 2007 on Amazon.com.
