Lesson 1 |
||||
|
|
First things first. You must have a general plan of what you wish to do with your site whether it would be entertaining, educational, informative, technical, or a blog (etc). | |||
|
|
Now you should locate the
area on your disc drive where you will place your web site files.
It should be in a folder named My Web Sites or something similar.
Can't find it? Look on C: drive in your documents folder. On
my computer it is C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\My Web
Sites. Here is a screen shot of my desktop, notice the My Web
Sites folder is the only one with world icon. This is XP version.
In the My Web Site folder you should create a new folder and give it a name. (Jonny's Blog, Aunt Martha's Recipes, Kids online). If you are going to have more than one site you should create a new folder for each to keep things separate and orderly. In each site folder you may wish to organize further into sub folders. Up to now I have not done that in my sites, but as they grow larger I may have to reorganize or start over anew. Many sites use a sub folder for each page containing logos, banners, buttons, or other graphics. My sites each have all files in a single site folder. More detail on this in later lessons. |

What you need now is a
program to write your pages.
