My Interests

I love to collect and use "Green" radios - military surplus sets - particularly tactical HF and VHF radios.

I have radios from the 30s to the 90s. There is a listing of some of my sets on the Military Radio page. I still have a long way to go to put together the pages for each radio, but I am trying to begin to update my site again.

On six meters, I use an RT-68/GRC, an AN/VRC-90, an AN/VRC-94 and RT-524/VRC. Also available are several handheld sets: including a PRC-68B, PRC-128 and PRC6725 (similar to the PRC-139).

Several military radios find use on two meters — an AN/PRC-128 along with several Motorola sets: an HT1250 and CDM1250.

On HF, a Navy AN/URC-35B (down due to needed repairs on the DC to DC Pouwer Unit), a Transworld TW-7000/TW-500, a Harris RF-5022R/T(E) / RF-5032-125, and an Harris AN/URC-119 are used for Ham and MARS. I have both MARS and Ham Winlink2000 and WINMOR capability and use a GoBook III Computer. The Datron TW7000/TW500 is my principal MARS/SHARES station and is set up for Voice. (I must confess that I now use an Icom 718 for WL2K and WINMOR).

I have a AN/PRC-132 which is used as a portable HF station,

Here is my want list of both radios and parts and accessories I need for restoration projects. Many of the tactical sets are great for use on Six Meters.

Here is my trade list of radios which I have available to trade for things that I need. Please let me know if you see something that I have which you might want to add to your collection.

I also enjoy restoring and using boatanchor sets - those wondeful tube radios make by Clegg, Collins, Gonset, Hallicracters, Hammarlund, National, and many other fine companies of the 30s through the 70s. Here are some pictures of some of my sets (coming soon or at least some day in the future).

My Hamshack

This is my hamshack. There is quite a bit of space for my various radios and a workshop.

Things are still under construction (probably always will be), but it is nice to have space.

I use a B & W folded dipole and a 80-10 fan type dipole for HF work, a (30-500 Mc) vertical for tactical mil monitoring, a Ringo vertical for six meters, a three element beam for 6 Meter SBB and AM, and a 2 meter/440 dual band antenna.
