"There is something about a welcome mat at a front door. It says much more than a single word can imply. It says you are about to enter a place where you will feel at home, a place where you can relax and be yourself. It says that the people who put this humble but heartfelt greeting at their door want you to join them and want you to feel like part of their family. Or their company." So goes the first paragraph in Martha Galindo's new six-panel brochure marketed to corporations with multiple languages spoken by their employees. The need to communicate effectively and in the correct language is her business. The welcome mat was reintroduced at the beginning of each paragraph with "welcome" in different languages. A little more interest was added to the overall design with a playful use of raised dots juxtaposed to photos that are apparently beneath the page. Spot gloss varnish makes them POP off the page. Jim Boring supplied the wonderful copy for this project. |
