![]() Emma and Emmit Cammuse Family Worship Center began in 1954 with six families in a house at 119 Ballard Street as a
vision of Reverend Emma Cammuse. During this time, the church was known as the First Pentecostal
Church of God of Lawrenceburg. As the church grew it relocated to Court Street.
Following an illness, Sister Cammuse resigned the pulpit ministry in 1977. The church was then
served by pastors Steve Smith, Kenneth Greene and David Hernandez. During the 12 year pastorate
of Reverend Greene, the church grew and was renamed Messenger Temple. Under the direction of
Reverend Greene, the church purchased six acres of land at 1053 Frankfort Road with the intention of
relocating the church to this new property.
Reverend Tony Andrade was elected pastor in June of 1993 and on his first Sunday he preached
to a congregation of 25. Even though the opportunity to lead the church did not come at a time
of great growth, Brother Andrade knew the heart of the people and their determination to work.
The church began to grow and prosper immediately. The Lord began to speak to Brother Andrade
about a building project and relocating to the new property. Easter of 1996 was the last
service at the Court Street church.
The current facility was built with many years of volunteer labor by members of the congregation.
In March of 1997 they held their first service in the new building and the church was then named
Family Worship Center.
From the handful of 25, we have experienced God's growth in members and the church's rise of influence in the community, the Commonwealth and the world. We have witnessed the repentance of sin, lives changed, marriages rescued and relationships healed. It is our prayer that you share in our excitement for the future of Family Worship Center. |
