Project : Trunk release setup :-)

here is what I did:

1. I did not have to replace the liftgate or any part of it. I used the existing rubber absorber as a popper. I had to make it bouncier. I inserted a piece of rubber hose. It is not the best design since it tends to keep the shape after sometime... Will have to find something better.

2. I added a solenoid (45 lbs ... large piece... 15 lbs would have been best). Had to put it in an existing hole in the trunk.

3. Wired the solenoid to the locking mechanism using a steel cable.

Then had to drill a hole inside the car to put the push button that is wired directly to the car battery (+). Solenoid is grounded to the trunk.

Will have to fix the first hole that was too large (fitted with the first switch wich I broke :-( )

End of project.

Total cost around 50$

Here are some pictures of the parts and pieces:

1. exterior liftgate without handle

2. interior of the door

3. The lock

4. The mechanism

Thanks in advance for all your inputs.
