| John 15:16 says, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." I know that in this verse, Jesus is talking directly to His disciples, but does He also mean us (christians) when He says "I have chosen you...that ye should go and bring forth fruit"? | ||
| The most immediate application is to the disciples, but yes, you can apply it to the fact that God expects His disciples today to bring forth fruit.
It's not a Calvin-thing, just that God saved us for a purpose...to bring forth fruit. I tell my son, I have chosen you to take out the garbage. It doesn't make him my son, it just reveals my expectations OF him TO him. What to read more on this subject? Check out this book...
