History:
1600 was originally WAPX (APeX), a full timer top 40 station cometing with daytimer WBAM. Later became an R&B station as WXVI, the Roman numeral for 16. Beaten at that game by FM, the station then moved to black gospel, mostly running ABC's "The Light" satellite gospel format.
