AM History Profile: WVOK

History:

WOXR's frequency was moved from Talladega to Oxford in the early 80's... The station had the WEYY calls while in Talladega. This frequency is a clear channel in Canada. Became an easy listening station with the calls WOXR around February 1986. Became country a short time later. Changed to WARB calls and black AC in September 2000. Sometime in 2003 the station took the WVOK calls (shared now with WVOK-FM) and a satellite oldies format.  The satellite oldies format is simulcast on WVOK-FM on the weekends.  As of winter 2008 the station is listed as an affiliate of Scott Shannon's True Oldies channel.
