This station originally
started out on 730 AM until around 85-86 when they moved to their present
dial position with the calls WJMW. According to the NAB in 1985, the station
was broadcasting in stereo with the Harris system. The station began with
country music as a local Athens outlet and that format stayed until 1988
when the station moved to a talk format. At one time was owned by Bill
Dunnavant, who owned WYZP-FM and WUMP-AM in the area, but is now owned
by Cumulus Media. In April 2006 this station's talk format began simulcasting
on WVNN-FM 92.5, an ex-oldies station out of Decatur. The AM is a
two-site operation. The single daytime tower is located along US
72 on the Limestone/Madison county line. The night site is just off
Looney Road, along I-65 just north of Athens.
