History:
-
This station was MOR
formatted until 1972, when owner Charles Woods abruptly changed the format
to country after reading an trade magazine article on the future of country
radio. WTVY had a lock on country music in the Dothan market despite weak
signal competition from WLWI in Montgomery and WPAP in Panama City, but
has since lost market ground after in town station WDJR flipped to country
in 1992.

In July 2008 it was
reported that all but one of the station's staff walked out of their jobs.
Most apparently headed to a cross-town rival radio company.
