History:
WGOK began in 1958 as a soul (R&B) station, with black gospel music middays. Even as a daytimer, it remained consistent in this format despite heavy FM competition. In the late 90's, it obtained an FM through an LMA arragement with WYOK, moved it's contemporary programming there and turned the AM all black gospel. In it's early days, it was a member of the OK chain of black stations: sister to WBOK, WXOK, WLOK and KYOK. In late August of 2007 the station began simulcasting their gospel format on WDLT, 660 in Fairhope.
