Prototerra, Inc

Graphic Director
April 2006 to January 2009

My major responsibility was the design and construction of BSP environments for virtual worlds, from concept design, construction and texturing through lighting, object placement and scripting. I pushed the boundaries of what the engine could do, and developed solutions to simulate features the engine did not support, like reflectivity. I worked with clients to troubleshoot and improve BSP maps created by other designers.

I assisted with avatar development, creating clothing and 3d accessories, LOD models, adjusting rigging and creating animations. I developed a flattened UV mapping scheme which allows users with no 3d experience to produce textures that fit the avatars with minimal distortion.

I also designed print and internet advertising and promotional materials for the company.

Projects

Heuristic Park, Inc (formerly DW Bradley and Associates)

Lead artist, Graphic Director, Vice President - Graphic Production, Contract Artist.
June 1990 to December 2000, June 2003 to April 2004

During my 10 years at Heuristic Park, I performed every aspect of graphic production for gaming except 3d character animator. I produced concept art, 2d graphics and animation, user interface graphics, effects art, designed and constructed game levels, built and animated 3d models, built 3d characters, rendered and edited video, and even acted as webmaster/designer for the company website.

For most of my time with the company I served as Graphic Director. I was responsible for art direction, scheduling and assigning work and supervision of the art team. I tested new art tools and worked with the program team to improve in house development tools for the art team.

As the company grew, I took on the role of Vice President - Graphic Production. This entailed creating promotional materials to sell our graphic production services, meeting with clients and acting as Graphic Director on their behalf.
