s Versaci Family Recipe For Pasta Sauce s

Yields: 0

Ingredients

6 oz. can Tomato Paste
15 oz. can Tomato Sauce
Italian Red Table Wine (cheap)
1 tablespoons crushed or minced garlic
Olive Oil
4 ounces Mushrooms canned or fresh
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Basil fresh or dried
1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
2 tablespoon Oregano
1 ea Bay leaf
1/4 stick butter
1 level teaspoon granulated sugar

Instructions
In a large pot or dutch oven coat the bottom with olive oil. Add the garlic and (optional) mushrooms on medium heat. When it starts to bubble turn down to low heat and let simmer. When garlic begins to turn brown add the can of tomato paste and stir until well-blended. Let simmer (low heat) for about 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and 1.5 cans (use the tomato sauce can) of water and .5 cans of wine. (May use two cans of water and no wine, but it isn't as good! More water may be used for a thinner sauce or if you simmer for a long time. Additional water may be added after some time, but add the wine at the beginning.)Stir well.

Add the rest of the ingredients, stir well and cover the pot. Bring to a boil and then turn the stove down to low and let simmer (covered) for at least 1 hour stirring occasionally. Best if you let it simmer for 5 or 6 hours, but a minimum of 1 hour.Pour over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
