250 CID Inline 6

Needs a little TLC to get rid of 32 years of Mississippi farmer.

January 2006

Here is what the 6 looked like before I decided to go V-8 power.  Late model HEI was added as well as some cleaning and paint.  She is still running great, just in another person's truck.

The 305 from the 69 threw several rod bearings, thus I was looking for another motor.

Going with a basic GM 350 Crate engine.  Now to get the accessories in line.

The 69 was using late model engine stands and mounts, so I transferred those over to the 70.  Cleaned the front of the frame and painted it all with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator.

Turbo 350C.

A friend rebuilt it and installed a deep sump pan.

Going to use the fans from a 3.8L Windstar.  They are suppose to have lots of pulling power and should cool mine just fine.  I just have to fab up the mountings later.

The engine is in the frame!!

I am using a serpentine setup from a 94 Chevy C1500 Pickup.  New water pump and 130Amp alternator installed.  Cleaned up and painted all the components.

Slowly, but surely assembly goes on. Awaiting a few accessories and parts so I can install the transmission and headers. Final tweaking will come once the cab is on.

I cleaned up all the crude from the headers and painted them with hi-temp header paint.  They will at least look good for a few minutes after firing the engine up.

Here are the headers in place.  Also put on some polished aluminum valve covers.  The whole thing is starting to come together.

I decided to reuse the FlowMaster 40s that were on the 69, for now at least.  I used the existing pipes to make my shorty exhaust.

Here is a shot with everything on and cab in place.  For now the pipes will dump just behind the cab.

Just waiting to rewire the truck, then I can fire up the engine and transmission.  Hopefully it won't be too long before that happens.
