Midi Compositions

Hello from the beautiful town of St. Augustine, Florida! It's been way too long since I've made a new MIDI composition. Guitar playing anf other activites forced it into the background. I intend to get back into composing soon and hopefully will have some new material to add to this page. In the meantime, I went back and balanced a few instruments and tied up some things in the tunes. I also dug up some of the old blues/jazz songs I left out on the old website.

I began composing on an old Radio Shack Color computer with a plug in synth. It had 4 channels with one note playable per channel at a time. High tech, huh? Nowadays I use a PC with a SoundBlaster Live soundcard and PowerTracks Pro Audio software for editing. I laboriously input one note at a time because my timing on a MIDI synth is terrible. This is a labor of love for me over the years and each song has a special meaning to me. I hope you get enjoyment from listening to them. I think the classical pieces are best. though the pop songs are fun in a quirky way.

Do yourself a favor and use a good soundcard that recreates MIDI well. An alternate approach is to use a software based MIDI synth. There are a number of free ones on the internet. I do not recommend using the QuickTime plugin for MIDI as its instrument bank is not very good. Experiment if you go the software route and find a program that has an orchestral, rich sound to it.
