Sir Francis

Sir Francis was adopted by us in 1997. He quickly took over as the 'alpha animal' here.

He is an elder statesman (statesbunny?) in the internet group PetBunny. One thing that makes him rather unique is the fact he has been bonded for the past 7 years with Tommy Cat.

This photo was featured on the Ellen show in 2006. Francis has weathered bacterial infections and an abscess and stayed pretty feisty for an older bunny. He was also still best buddies with Tommy, though the closeness is a little much for Tommy at times! In late 2006 Francis was diagnosed with a heart valve problem that was probably caused by his earlier bacterial infection. His health gradually deteriorated despite medications and he began having trouble breathing. We set up an oxygen tent for him. Sir Francis had a heart attack and died in January, 2007 while being given him his medicines. I gave him CPR but he was already gone. When Francis left he took a piece of our hearts with him.
