Starlight
She moves between the lifeless trees
As silent as the mist;
White and silver, Black as pitch;
A sky naught sunlight kissed.
The stars above her, shining down
Upon the virgin snow;
They gaze into her heart to see
What human eyes can't know.
A flashing eye, a furry paw
Moves silent through the night.
A single cloud the moon obscures;
the stars, the only light.
Beyond the darkness of my heart,
Where fantasies can live,
I know that dreams they can come true
And truth is relative.
It's in this realm of timeless thought
that forests may exist.
Among their trees a wolf may roam
As silent as the mist.
I go there often in my dreams,
Sleeping and awake.
I've found that I control them all,
And in my dreams partake.
The Wolf, she is a special one
That humans cannot tame,
And she is completely worthy
Of her heav'nly name.
She walks through night on silken paws;
No noise however slight.
She is the precious animal
Whom a dreamer named Starlight.
So when you think that you're alone,
Know these words are right:
A Wolf is with you, comforting,
Though maybe out of sight.
Remember she is by your side
Forever, come what may,
And her howls, her mournful cries,
Will help you day by day.
So you will always have a friend,
Though slightly out of view,
Knowing there's a little wolf
Watching over you.
